Frys Electronic Store – is it really worth to shop there because it’s cheaper?

Live, laugh, love asked:

Is Frys reliable? As in, are the workers helpful and products in good quality in comparison to Best Buy?

We’re buying a new computer ( the whole set ) and I think we should buy it from Best Buy… but my uncle argues that we should go to Frys because Frys is cheaper.

Any input? Or any experience at shopping at Frys? (Because I personally know Best Buy has pretty good service)

Thanks!

Thomas

Best Buy will definitely give you better service, but if your looking for good quality products and a cheaper price – Fry’s is the way to go. It’s kind of like Sams Club to Walmart (it’s more like a warehouse).

Also, check out TigerDirect.com as they have great deals on computers.

    Cheers!

I personally do not like Fry’s, it gets really bad reviews. I would go to Best Buy, plus you could get the 3-year Geek Squad warranty. My uncle just bought a brand new Dell desktop at Best Buy, had excellent hardware too (Quad Core, 6 GB of RAM, etc.) he is extremely happy, satisfied, and loves it. Best Buy is where I am getting my new laptop at.

Best part of all, is that you get your computer right away at Best Buy. Not wait days for it to come in, like Fry’s.

I have done a lot of shopping at Fry’s electronics here in Wilsonville, Oregon. Fry’s is HUGE and one of the biggest electronics parts stores in the US.

I would say my experience with buying computer parts there has overall been in the 90%+ range. They back up all their warrenties and policies with a no questions asked return and I would trust their warrenty structure for new computers.

They have GREAT deals every week on computer parts and computer packages.

Best Buy is NOTHING BUT a retailer. They don’t know squat about computers. What they mainly have are teenagers who run their stores and my experience with them is, they are quick to sell items they don’t know anything about. So why should you buy something from a store that doesn’t keep employees who know their products?

I have helped a lot of people here on Yahoo!Answers giving them solutions to problems that Best Buy couldn’t answer. So what does that tell you about Best Buy and their warrenty program???

I happen to agree with your uncle and I think he is right in wanting to go to Fry’s. They have a solid warrenty policy, solid return policy, and the people who put their computers together are top notch industry people.
